2 charged after Arkansas man fatally shot by intruder
LITTLE ROCK — Two people have been arrested after an Arkansas man was fatally shot by a home intruder earlier this week, KATV content partner 40/29 News reported.
Jeffrey Allen Workman, 46, of Fort Smith, is accused of kicking in the front door of a home in Hackett around 5:30 a.m. Sunday. Authorities said he beat a man with a baseball bat, went upstairs to a bedroom and shot Stephen Basham, 34, to death.
Workman was charged with first-degree murder, first-degree battery, aggravated residential burglary and possession of a firearm by certain persons.
Jennifer Renee Martin, 39, of Fort Smith, was also arrested. She was charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree battery.
Authorities did not release a motive in the case.
Workman and Martin were being held in the Sebastian County jail Tuesday.
