A look at the Hispanic vote in Arkansas during Hispanic Heritage Month

Little Rock, Arkansas – A recent survey by NBC News, Telemundo, and CNBC, conducted two weeks into Hispanic Heritage Month, indicates that while Latino support for the Democratic candidate in this year’s presidential contest is higher than that of the Republican, it has fallen to the lowest level for a Democrat in a number of election cycles.

Some could question whether or not Donald Trump and Kamala Harris’ campaigns are making enough effort to connect with these crucial people.

Richard is an emeritus professor at the University of Arkansas Little Rock and the former state director of the League of United Latin American Citizens for Arkansas.

According to a survey conducted in mid-August by the Hispanic Federation and Latino Victory Foundation, the Latino community generally displayed a greater enthusiasm in voting following the Democratic ticket’s shift at the top.

Hispanic voters are giving Harris less support than previous Democratic presidential contenders.

According to Richard, that goes against the grain in Arkansas, where the majority of the population is Mexican, a group that might have fewer resources when they immigrate to the country than Cubans, who frequently settle in Florida.

Richard added that people with less money typically support the Democratic party because it is the political party that supports social services the greatest.

According to the Pew Research Center, 85% of Latinos surveyed said that the economy was their top concern.

According to the most recent NBC survey, people favor Trump on the economy even though they find Harris more likable and competent.

Richard pointed out that despite the fact that the presidential election is only 33 days away, the campaigns still appear to be honing their messaging for this important group.
