A record number of wagers placed on sports in Arkansas

Little Rock, Arkansas – Despite the fact that sports betting has only been legal in Arkansas for a little over a year, the state is already breaking revenue records.

More than $30.5 million was wagered on various sporting events in Arkansas during the month of November, according to a spokesperson for the state Department of Finance and Administration. The sum ensured that November would go down as the most important month in the history of sports betting in the state.

The previous record for most bets was set in September at $21.18 million, but October surpassed that with $26.87 million in wagers, making it the largest month ever. The amount for November more than doubles the figure for June, which was $12.6 million in bets in total.

When the numbers for October are broken down, it is found that a total of $20,728,897 was wagered on sports through the use of mobile apps, while the remaining $6.1 million was wagered in person at the state’s three casinos. The Saracen Casino in Pine Bluff came in first place with a total of $13,946,378 wagered on sports, the majority of which – $13,16 million – was bet using the Saracen Casino’s mobile sports betting app.

Since the beginning of the year, DFA reports that more than 124 million dollars have been wagered on various sporting events.

After a ruling by the Arkansas Racing Commission in March, online sports betting became available for the first time in the state of Arkansas. Prior to that, wagers on sporting events could only be placed on the premises of individual casinos.

In 2018, casino gambling was made legal in the state of Arkansas.
