The Marianna City Council, in coordination with the Lee County Sheriff’s Department, the Arkansas State Police, and the City of Marianna Police Department, reached this decision.
The Marianna Police Department stated that “a significant and troubling increase in gun violence within our community” was the reason behind the decision in a statement on their Facebook page.

According to the city, Marianna residents will be impacted in three main ways:

• Public Gatherings: All public gatherings, including outdoor events, are suspended during this period.
• Increased Law Enforcement: There will be an increased presence of law enforcement and emergency personnel.
All residents are asked to stay inside during curfew hours, according to the post.
