Jock Davis, a WWII soldier from Russellville, turns 100

Russellville, Arkansas – A Russellville resident who served in World War II is commemorating his 100th birthday this weekend.
On Saturday, there was a celebration for Jock Davis, who was a combat engineer in the Pacific eighty years ago, at the Arkansas Tech University campus.
After the war, he attended Arkansas Tech with the help of the G.I. bill and went on to become an executive in the poultry business.
For young individuals who are looking for something to do, Jock Davis offered some advice.
“ROTC is a good place for them because it allows you to serve your country while getting paid for attending school and receiving a free education,” Davis stated. “You also make a lot of friends outside of that.”
Jock also has three grandsons who served in the Army.
In a proclamation, Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders designated October 5 as “Jock Davis Day.”
