Little Rock pleads guilty to charges after entering US Capitol during Jan. 6 riot
Little Rock, Arkansas – Little Rock resident Daniel Hatcher, 73, entered a guilty plea to several offenses related to the riot on January 6, including disorderly conduct and parading within a capital building.
According to a US Department of Justice letter, Hatcher consented to enter a guilty plea to the following charges:
• Disorderly and disruptive conduct in a capitol building or grounds (count 3)
• Parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a capitol building (count 4)
In the letter, the Department of Justice stated that Hatcher may face a maximum penalty of six months in jail and a maximum five-year probationary period for violating these charges. Hatcher may also be subject to a $5,000 fine.
Hatcher was taken into custody on February 12 in relation to the riot, and this ruling follows.
He was charged with at least four federal offenses following his original arrest, and he told authorities that he had entered the capitol building.
In January 2021, Hatcher, Nathan Mackie, and Brandon Mackie visited the capital and had two FBI interviews. The dates of those interviews were January 13 and January 15, of that year.
He said to FBI agents that he had gone to a demonstration earlier in the day with the two men, then walked to the Capitol building. Hatcher then attempted to scale a building wall before descending and utilizing adjacent stairs on the building’s northwest terrace, which is a restricted area.
After spending about two minutes there, the three men went out the Senate Wing doors.
Hatcher’s identity was established, in part, by the FBI’s receipt of identification tips in addition to the publicly accessible photos and recordings.
