Local companies prepare for a surge in sales as a result of the Great American Solar Eclipse
Little Rock, Arkansas – Less than two weeks remain until the Great American Solar Eclipse and local businesses anticipate a surge in activity in the lead-up to the big event.
This is an important time to be preparing for the hundreds of thousands of people who, along with us locals, will be flooding the state in need of essentials for the eclipse.
“Well we’re planning on getting some trucks in ahead of time, make sure we have plenty of products of things that we think people are going to buy up,” Edwards Food Giant, Special Projects Manager, Steve Edwards Jr., said.
Similar to any other holiday, Edwards Food Giant is getting ready for a spike in customers who want to purchase bread, meats, and other essentials for large parties.
“You know I think just any necessities to get you through that day. Something to have lunch, to have dinner, breakfast… You know just all the little things that you need to not have to get out for the day,” Edwards Jr. said. “Get ready to have a good time with your friends and family and enjoy this kind of …I guess it’s a once-in-a-lifetime event,” Edwards added.
Additionally stocking up on essentials in case of an emergency is Kavanaugh Pharmacy.
“Just making sure we’ve got enough over-the-counter supplies and other products that people will be able to get if needed,” Kavanaugh Pharmacy, Owner/Pharmacist, Anne Pace said.
Items such as compression bandages and anti-inflammatories will be sought for by consumers.
“All of your general first aid kit of band-aids, antiseptic, Neosporin. All of that’s just basic… What to have in a first aid kit,” Pace said. “If we do have so many people in the state like they are expecting it may be longer lines at getting into urgent cares or doctors’ offices or you know… The hospital if we do… If you do have an injury,” Pace added.
If you anticipate spending a lot of time outside, Kavanaugh Pharmacy also advises packing sunscreen and allergy medication.
NASA-approved solar eclipse glasses will be available for viewing safely from Kavanaugh Pharmacy and Edwards Food Giant while supplies last.
