Man cuts 100 trees on Ouachita National Recreation Trail for a view on the lake from his house
Roland, Arkansas – Man will probably face charges after allegedly cutting 100 trees on Ouachita National Recreation Trail for a view on the lake from his house.
The investigation about the incident is open after a hiker noticed and informed the police.
“There is dead limbs everywhere and these trees– some of them will not survive. Some will, but some of them won’t. It’s not right,” said Kay Sanders, a hiker.
According to him, he couldn’t believe the damage as he has been hiking the Ouachita Trail for 30 years near Spillway Road.
“You don’t have the right to do this. No one has the right to do this,” said Sanders.
Another hiker informed the police that at least six people were cutting trees in the same area last week.
According to Central Arkansas Water who owns this part of the land, a man with house just next to the trail contracted the work to be done.
“We don’t take things like this lightly. The tops of the trees look like something out of the Lorax,” said Raven Lawson with Central Arkansas Water.
Following the reactions of the hikers, Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office opened investigation about the case to reveal if the man has violated the contract.
This is a developing story, we will update the case once more details are available.
