On the 25th anniversary of “The Waterboy,” Arkansas was ranked as the state most obsessed with Sandler comedies

Little Rock, Arkansas – On Monday, the comedy classic “The Waterboy” starring Adam Sandler will celebrate its 25th anniversary. According to a recent survey, Arkansas is the state most devoted to the 1998 comedy classic.
The research team at Gambling.com reports that when it comes to love for the movie starring Adam Sandler as Bobby Boucher Jr. and Kathy Bates as his overbearing mother, Arkansas is second only to Louisiana, the state where the movie is set.
The study’s team claimed to have ranked all 50 states in the United States by determining the top five Google search terms associated with the movie over the previous five years.
To complete the top five, Arkansas defeated other southern states like Texas, Alabama, and Mississippi.
Reportedly, the highest-grossing sports comedy of all time is still “The Waterboy,” according to Gambling.com.
When Sandler was awarded the Kennedy Center’s Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in March, he was recognized as a comic and entertainment royalty.
He first gained widespread recognition while appearing on “Saturday Night Live.” Following a five-year tenure and his dismissal from the cast, Sandler went on to have a phenomenally successful cinematic career that has grossed over $3 billion worldwide over the course of more than 30 films.
“Happy Gilmore,” “The Wedding Singer,” and “You Don’t Mess with the Zohan” are some of Sandler’s other hit songs. While Sandler is best recognized for his slapstick humor and mature child performances, he has also shown greatness in a variety of somber roles, including those in the movies “Uncut Gems” and “Punch Drunk Love.”
