Hot Springs, Arkansas – One month has passed since the EF-2 tornado that devastated the spa city, causing damage to both houses and businesses.

Hot Springs mainstay Jose’s Mexican Grill and Cantina has reopened following the hurricane.

Hot Springs was devastated by an EF-2 tornado that struck in the wee hours of May 8. At first, Jose Soto felt the damage wasn’t too serious when he arrived to inspect it.

“In the beginning, we just saw some exterior damages that we figured we could probably get fixed rather quickly,” Soto said.

However, they underestimated the extent of the devastation. They had damage to AC units, vent hoods, water leaks, and other things.

“Something you never expected,” Soto said.

The original location is now feeling the love of its community, providing cuisine, and greeting guests through the doors.

“It’s been really nice to see all the people come together and support us,” Soto said.

The roof has been fixed, and the electricity pole that was fallen has been taken down from the outside. With a few final touches, it will nearly return to its previous state.

“So, excuse our mess but the inside is ready to go,” Soto said.

Hopefully, he adds, the exterior work will be finished in a few weeks.
