Saint Mark Baptist Church pays tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Little Rock, Arkansas – Those who respect the reformation Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. established still remember the name of an American activist who gave his life during the Civil Rights movement to ensure equality and justice for everyone. He passed away 57 years ago.
Pastor Phillip L. Pointer Sr. organizes the yearly celebration at Saint Mark Baptist Church to honor all that he has accomplished.
“It’s a significant part of our year to remember the life and legacy of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, and we’re excited to host it again,” Pointer stated.
From musical selections by a choir to special words by people like Dr. Jermall Wright remembering Dr. King’s purpose.
Wright remarked, “His words remind us that our fight for civil rights is about the dignity and humanity of every person, not just about laws and policy.”
The event honors Dr. King’s years of advocacy and his teachings on nonviolent means of achieving freedom for those who desired it over a life of conflict.
“We honor that legacy,” Pointer stated. “His message is that America owes all of its citizens the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”
The impact of Dr. King’s work can be seen in Little Rock, among other places, and Mayor Frank Scott Jr. believes that the best is still to come.
“Events like this, where you know that you can truly bring people together, are what it’s all about, but there’s always more room for improvement and more ways to go,” Scott stated.
