Little Rock, Arkansas – Following the removal of a straw from its esophagus, Little Rock Zoo staff reported that one of their penguins had regained its appetite.

A straw-like protrusion in the penguin’s esophagus was confirmed by a few radiographs after zoo officials reported that they had detected a drop in appetite in one of the animals.

The silicone straw that was preventing the penguin from feeding was removed by the veterinary team.

The penguin is now “eating like a champ,” according to zoo authorities.

Additionally, zoo officials reminded visitors that they are not permitted to put or discard items into the animal habitats.

To prevent any mishaps, anyone who notices foreign things in any animal habitat is asked to notify a zoo employee.
