Newton County, Arkansas – A Newton County deputy found the missing man’s truck. He was from Little Rock.
The Newton County Sheriff’s Office reports that on July 11, a truck registered to Little Rock resident Clyde Holmes, 41, also known as Clyde Boatwright Jr., was found between Jasper and Piercetown on Highway 74.

According to investigators, Holmes was last observed in Little Rock on July 10.

Around five in the morning, a Newton County deputy found the abandoned truck, which was locked and towed to one side of the road. The officer then searched the area for the owner. After that, the truck was towed and reported impounded on a national law enforcement computer network.

Newton County deputies were contacted by Little Rock Police on July 19 regarding the truck. After obtaining a search warrant, the deputies examined the truck but turned up nothing new. Holmes has no known ties to Newton County, according to investigators.

In collaboration with Little Rock police, Newton County deputies have been using K-9 teams to undertake a ground search.

“I have met with Clyde’s family, and they are rightfully worried about him,” Newton County Sheriff Glenn Wheeler said. “Our prayers go out to him and to his family. We don’t have a lot of information to go on at this point, but are hopeful that, as the investigation and search continues, we will have more information to work with.”

Holmes is described by investigators as 5’10” with black dreadlocks, and it’s unclear what he was wearing when he vanished from view.

Sheriff Wheeler is requesting that anybody who has seen Mr. Holmes anywhere in the Newton County region since July 10 call his office at 870-446-5124.

Detectives from the Little Rock Police Department or the Newton County Sheriff’s Office can be reached at 501-404-3016 if you have any information that may be relevant to the investigation.
