Water damage to UA Little Rock basketball court forces relocation of games to Simmons Bank Arena
Little Rock, Arkansas – Following damage to their home court, the UA Little Rock men’s and women’s basketball teams have shifted their games to the Simmons Bank Arena.
The Joe Foley Court was submerged in water after a water coil in the Jack Stephens Center burst due to low temperatures, according to school authorities. The venue was changed by school administrators due to safety concerns.
The Little Rock Trojans’ Twitter page shared a picture of the court on Wednesday, showing workers evaluating and drying it in preparation for upcoming matches.
George Lee, the director of athletics, expressed his gratitude to Simmons Bank Arena for working with the college on such short notice.
“This situation has posed a unique challenge and I’m grateful for their flexibility and assistance to help us keep our OVC opening doubleheader in central Arkansas,” he said.
On Thursday, December 29, UA Little Rock will play at Martin against UT. The men’s game will begin at 7:30 p.m., with the women’s game beginning at 5 p.m.
